You need to know more about the role of the wholesale shoes supplier. Dealing with the public directly has traditionally not been the wholesaler's objective. The wholesaler sells his product to vendors, retailers and other suppliers.

Here are five steps to making your wholesale business a reality:

1.Be absolutely sure of what you intend to do. Are you looking to sell all types of shoes or will you be specializing in a specific niche? A general shoes wholesaler needs to maintain stocks for all types and styles of shoes; whereas a niche wholesaler carries a specific type or style.

2 Find a local distributor and manufacturer in order to ask them for their brochures and price lists for the various shoes lines they sell. You are going to want to visit with them and talk to management about all sorts of things. What is the minimum amount accepted in an order? Is what they're selling up to your standard of quality? How do the do their restocking of inventory? What are their policies on returns, quality assurance, guarantees?

3 It is always best to sample the rates of the potential manufacturers for comparison purposes. This is known as doing your homework. Ask their management about pricing. Compare prices with other manufacturers you have looked at. Is price negotiable at any time?

4 Get to know the local retailers; they are your buyers. Make an introduction and describe your business; how might you be able to help them? This will be the start a good working relationship with them.

5 Starting from scratch and growing your business is usual the best strategy. Part of your growth strategy needs to include the addition of new products and the addition of new manufacturers to your business network. You can start your wholesale shoes business from your home depending on the initial trading volume. Then you can move on to a larger store house to meet your growing requirements.
